Today was my last full day in Wyoming. My wife and I went to the Buffalo Bill Museums. If you ever get to Cody, Wyoming, I highly recommend visiting the museums if you are at all interested in the history of this area. Also, plan on a couple of days, if you are really an aficionado of Wyoming history because there are some things in downtown Cody that would really interest you. Even this part of my trip has added to the research aspect for my next book. Nothing was directly speaking to my hometown of Worland, but I got a good sense of the time period in general. So, I’m excited to begin my writing on the project.
As I have said before, this trip definitely put some closure on my view of home. Worland is no longer what I would consider home. It will always be my birthplace and the place I was raised. It will always have a huge impact on how I was formed emotionally. However, I have a family and a community who live in southern California. I can’t imagine what it must be like for those of you who come from military families or who bounced around from place to place. I feel fortunate that I have some history tied to just one place, and I have an opportunity to go over that history with others who did that with me. I also feel fortunate that I have a community and a home where I can live with, interact with, and grow with others. Truly God knew what He was doing when He led me through the lowest places emotionally and spiritually, and raised me up into the life I have now. I know to always trust Him. He knows what He’s doing.
