Today was my last day of research for my next book. It was a good day of learning about the history of my hometown. I believe I have enough to at least start the outline of my book. I figured that I can always email for more information if needed. I’m excited for this next book. It will be challenging since I will need to incorporate and weave historical facts with the fictional story that I hope to tell.
My wife and I also got the chance to go to the Big Horn Mountains to visit Meadowlark Lake and Ten Sleep. The Lake is near the area where my family would cut firewood for the winter. We would go every two weeks during the summer. But what I really wanted her to experience was the calm and the tranquility of the mountains, the lake, and the forests that are there. It’s like nothing I’ve ever experienced before, and the smell of the pine, the feel of the breeze, and the views were captivating. I remember just being able to lose myself in the environment, and I haven’t really been able to do that anywhere else.
We also spent some time in Ten Sleep, a town of just under 300 people. They have an ice cream parlor, Dirty Sally’s, which serves some of the best ice cream around. Many times after coming down from the mountains after cutting firewood, we would stop here to eat a cone. I have some excellent memories of the place. Today, we ate dinner with my brother and his family.
I have enjoyed this trip immensely. I’ve been able to share with my wife a little bit of my childhood that was good. As I have said before, God does some wonderful things, and His plan is always perfect. I don’t always see it, and usually it has already passed me by before I realize how good it has been. I never want to take advantage of all the blessings that I have received from Him.
